About the Event

A benefit event supporting TRAP, The Rhythmic Arts Project. The band Pockets is a band of studio players and vocalists who combined and individually have graced the albums and CDs of a thousand artists over the years. From TOTO to Madonna, the band Chicago and Elton John, The Beach Boys, the band America, Rick Nelson, and The Stone Canyon Band, to The Captain and Tennille, Brenda Russel, Dave Mason, and Dobie Grey, to Del Shannon, JD Souther, Michael McDonald and, from Marianne Faithful to Oingo Boingo (to mention only a few). The band Pockets has played together and has supported The Rhythmic Arts Project for 25 years.

Táta Vega: Vocals

In January 2013, Táta’s long awaited dream was fulfilled when she, along with Darlene Love, Merry Clayton, Lisa Fischer and Judith Hill premiered “Twenty Feet from Stardom”, a film that explores the lives of the women behind the biggest headliners today, The Backing Vocalists, often referred by Táta as the “Frame for the Painting”. Táta has been recognized as one of the most successful session singers of today and has sung back-up for a number of artists including legendary entertainers, Sir Elton John, Madonna, Michael Jackson, and new artists’ such as Natasha Beddingfield, Rahsaan Patterson, Melody Gardot, and countless others.

Chris Pinnick: Guitar
One of the world’s finest guitarists and songwriters, best known as the lead guitarist for Chicago from 1980-1985.  Chris earned gold and platinum awards for “Chicago” 14, 16 & 17 and “Greatest Hits” Vol 1 & 2. Chris recorded with Herb Alpert and earned gold records for his electric guitar work on Herb’s hit, “Rise”. He also worked with Peter Cetera and Chuck Negron in the studio as well as his partner Chet McCracken on many studio projects over the years including The Buds.

Carl Graves: Vocals/Percussion
Carl’s first major professional success in America came as a member of Capitol Records’ recording artists, Skylark led by internationally renowned producer-composer David Foster. The group’s first hit was “Wildflower.”

Carl has been involved with many artists over the years including, Maurice White, Brenda Russell and Dave Mason.  In the late 80’s, Carl was invited by producer-composer Danny Elfman to join MCA recording group Oingo Boingo as keyboardist/vocalist.  He subsequently toured and recorded three albums with the group and is still with them today.

Steve Nelson: Bass
While living in Santa Barbara, Steve played with The Eraser heads and The Bombers. Steve played with The Captain & Tennille in ’78.  And then in the house band on The Toni Tennille TV Show backing such artists as The Temptations, The Spinners, Della Reese, Pearl Bailey, B.B. King, Mel Torme, Rita Moreno and Rita Coolidge.

Jimmy Caleri: Piano/Sax
Composer / Lyricist /Arranger has had an extraordinary and versatile career. In the late 60’s he was a member and principal writer of the legendary Raven a Buffalo, New York based band that went on to become a favorite of musicians all around the country.

Playing keyboards and saxophone, he toured Worldwide for several years with  the group America. A musician’s musician, Jimmy is at home playing or writing in all styles from tough  roadhouse shuffling  to string quartets and straight-ahead  jazz.

Rick Geragi: Percussion
Congas, Bongos, Timbales, and assorted world acoustic and electronic percussion instruments.

Rico derives cathartic pleasure from making pleasant but exciting sounds while beating on things. He grew up on the Northside of Pittsburgh, attended Ohio University where he formed a 9 piece progressive rock band and headed to Los Angeles, CA to become a touring recording musician. After a few years in LA he landed a record deal on MCA Records and his touring recording career began. His creative percussive musical style led him to touring or sharing the stage in various musical situations with such artists as Lani Hall (Sergio Mendes), Lionel Hampton, Robby Neville, Carole King, Delaney Bramlett (Delaney & Bonnie), Louis Johnson (The Brothers Johnson), Amy Holland (Michael McDonald), Rick Braun, Kittyhawk, David Garibaldi (Tower of Power), Richard Elliot, Freddie Ravel, Dave Thomas (Eurythmics), Doug Cameron, Tata Vega, and Piloto & Klimax on a tour in Cuba just to name a few. He switched coasts and now resides in South Florida where he is engaged in continuing to be a grooving percussive force in the many musical styles and groups he performs with.

Eddie Tuduri: Drums
Eddie Tuduri is the founder and director of The Rhythmic Arts Project (TRAP).

He is a career musician, who has worked with many of the world’s great entertainers, both touring and in countless recordings. Spanning more than 60 years, Eddie was privileged to work and many times record as a sideman with artists including Delaney Bramlett, Bobby Whitlock, The Beach Boys, Dobie Gray, Genya Raven, Del Shannon, Rick Nelson and the Stone Canyon Band, Dr. John, Ike Turner, Boxer, Ronnie Hawkins, The Down Child Blues Band, Chilliwack, The Five Man Electric Band, Brenda Russell, Brian Auger, Bill Champlin, Marianne Faithful, Martha Reeves, John Stewart, Steve Perry, Kenny Neal, Tata Vega, Ronnie Laws, Englebert Humperdinck, Dwight Yoakum, Johnny Rivers, Freddy Fender and Charlie Rich, Jimmy Messina, JD Souther and Michael and Amy McDonald to name a few.

Bill Bodine: Trumpet
producer/composer/arranger/bassist, has been a fixture in the Los Angeles music community for 25 years touring and recording with such notables as Van Morrison, Leo Sayer, The Funky Kings, Olivia Newton-John, Melissa Manchester, Joan Armatrading, Cher, Hampton Hawes, Sergio Mendez and Peter Criss of KISS.
