Experience the passion of genuine gypsy flamenco music and dance direct from Andalusia, Spain. A night of elegance, majesty, and passion not to be missed! Maria Bermudez gathers some of the most revered gypsy artists currently showcased in Spain and around the world including José Maya, Diego Amador, Diego Carrasco, Pelé De los Reyes, Carmen Grilo, Curro Carasco, Manuel Valencia, Ané Carrasco, Coral de los Reyes and Ana de los Reyes.
Maria Bermudez was officially named Flamenco Ambassador in 2022 by the city of flamenco, Jerez de La Frontera for her inspired trajectory that began in the 90’s. Her critically acclaimed performances have graced the stages of prominent venues in Spain, North America, and the world, including the Hollywood Bowl and The John Anson Ford Amphitheater in Los Angeles, The Joyce Theatre and Lincoln Center Outdoors in New York, Festival de Beaucaire in France, the Palacio Das Artes, Brazil, and countless festivals.
José Maya is a flamenco dancer from Madrid. He has shared the stage with international pop stars such as Marc Anthony, Beyoncé, Björk and Juan Luis Guerra and with flamenco stars such as Antonio Canales, Juan Ramírez and Farruquito. Maya performed in the Romani French filmmaker Tony Gatliff’s film Vertiges.
Diego Amador is a flamenco jazz multi-instrumentalist, singer, and composer. Also known as “El Ray Charles Gitano” (the gypsy Ray Charles) for his free and vigorous spirit when playing the piano. He has collaborated with the biggest stars of flamenco, such as Tomatito, Camarón de la Isla, Remedios Amaya, and Diego El Cigala. He has also collaborated with Jazz artists such as Pat Metheny, Pirelli Lagrene, Charlie Haden, and Chick Corea, among others.
Diego Carrasco, a legendary flamenco performer, unique in his rhythm and form of expressing a song. He is a singer, composer, and guitarist from Jerez de la Frontera. His songs have been sung by Camarón de la Isla and Remedios Amaya with whom he had the hit song “Nana de Colores”. Diego comes from flamenco dynasties Tío Borrico, Terremoto de Jerez, Los Peña de Lebrija and Tío Jero.
Latin Grammy nominee, Pelé De los Reyes is a flamenco-fusion singer, composer, and founder of the group “Navajita Plateá.” Pelé and his group were nominated for best artist and best flamenco composer for their album “Contratiempos“, reaching the Billboard charts with the hit song “Frío Sin Ti” (Cold without you). Received a Triple Platinum Disc with their album “Desde mi Azotea” (From my Rooftop), and best song of the year with their legendary “Noches de Bohemia” (Bohemian Nights) from the Music Awards, Spain (“Premios de la Música, España”.)
Carmen Grilo made her singing debut at the age of 8 years old at peña “Los Garbanzos”. A year later she performed her first solo at the Albéniz Theater. In 1995 she performed at the peña “Femenina de Huelva” and in the exaltation of the “Saeta de Jerez”. In 1997 she joined her brother Joaquin Grilo and his flamenco company triumphing at the Palau de la Música and the II Festival de Jerez.
Latin Grammy nominee, Francisco Carrasco Soto “Curro Carrasco” is a flamenco guitarist, composer, and along with Pelé de Los Reyes, founder and member of the flamenco-fusion group “Navajita Plateá”. Born into a recognized flamenco saga of flamenco artists, singers and guitarists such as Los Sordera, Los Fernández, María Soleá, and Los Carrascos. He is the brother of the cantaor “Juañares” and nephew of Diego Carrasco.
Manuel Valencia is a flamenco guitarist from Jerez de la Frontera. Grandnephew of Terremoto de Jerez, nephew of Fernando Terremoto and son of the palmero Diego Valencia “Tío Cabero“. Considered by critics as an exponent of the new Jerez guitar style, he began his professional career at an early age participating in several guitar festivals and competitions such as the International Guitar Contest of the Peña Los Cernícalos (Jerez) or the Accompaniment Guitar Contest of the Cristina Heeren Foundation (Córdoba).
Ané Carrasco is a flamenco percussionist born in Seville, raised in Jerez de la Frontera. He is the son of flamenco singer and composer Diego Carrasco. Like his father, he comes from a very important flamenco dynasty from the infamous gypsy neighborhood of Santiago in Jerez de la Frontera. He debuted at the age of 12 with his father in the internationally known “Fiesta de la Bulería de Jerez,” and has not stopped working since.
Coral De Los Reyes is a flamenco singer and composer born in Jerez de la Frontera. She comes from the highly recognized flamenco families: Anzonini del Puerto, Juanele and Los Rubichis. She is sister to Pelé De Los Reyes and flamenco singers Chiqui de Jerez and Ana de Los Reyes.
