About the Event
Los Lobos, comprised of David Hidalgo, Louie Perez, Cesar Rosas, Conrad Lozano, and Steve Berlin, has sold millions of records, won prestigious awards, and made fans around the world. Their music embodies the idea of America as a cultural melting pot; styles like son jarocho, norteño, Tejano, folk, country, doo-wop, soul, R&B, rock ’n’ roll, and punk all come together to create a new sound that’s greater than the sum of its parts. The GRAMMY® Award-winning group has prided itself on never covering the same ground twice while making music for nearly five decades. Their debut for the New West label, Native Sons, is due out July 30.
Nancy Sanchez, songwriter, performer and award-winning Jazz vocalist, represents a new voice in the world of ranchera music, providing a first-person, woman’s perspective within a historically male-dominated genre. Born in Toluca, Mexico, then making her home in the United States, Nancy reflects both cultures by combining elements of Mexican Folkloric, Jazz, Latin Alternative and pop in her live set.
The Lobero is delighted to welcome author/photographer Patricia Houghton Clarke to showcase her new book, Facing Ourselves: Reckoning, which will be available for purchase at the event.
