Leo Kottke 2025

by Josh James
October 1, 2024

Famed solo acoustic guitarist Leo Kottke is known for a fingerpicking style that draws on blues, jazz, and folk music, and for syncopated, polyphonic melodies. The artist overcame a series of personal obstacles, including partial loss of hearing, to emerge as a widely recognized master of his instrument. When he picks up a steel-stringed guitar, his fingers race across the strings with uncommon speed, developing a deep, churning groove that can at times sound like several people playing at once.

Now 79-years-young, Kottke has recorded over 30 albums that showcase his barnstorming fretwork and quirky songwriting. In concert, playing his six and 12-stringed guitars for appreciative audiences across the globe, he intersperses humorous and often bizarre monologues with vocal and instrumental selections from throughout his career. Kottke is a master of the guitar, whose playing has influenced generations of musicians and listeners.

Colin Hay 2025

by Josh James
September 9, 2024

Postponed to:
Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at 7:30 PM

A Note From Colin:
“I do not relish having to postpone shows, but due to unforeseen personal circumstances, my upcoming solo shows this week will be moved to October 2025. I apologize for any inconvenience caused, but will make it up to you further down the road. As we all know, it’s a devastating time for so many in our beloved city, may we help each other however we can. I would also like to thank all the firefighters who are nothing short of heroic, and especially those who worked tirelessly, and saved our neighborhood which was under imminent threat. I shall never forget that.”

All tickets will be honored for the new date. If you need to request a refund, please contact the box office at 805.963.0761 or boxoffice@lobero.org.

Singer-songwriter Colin Hay is beloved for his intimate, confessional live shows. The artist has had a prolific career, both as the lead singer and principal songwriter for the GRAMMY® Award-winning, multi-platinum selling band Men at Work, and a solo career that spans more than 25 years and 15 albums. His extraordinary new solo album, Now And The Evermore, is a defiantly joyful celebration of life and love, one that insists on finding silver linings and reasons to smile. That’s not to say the record deludes itself about the realities of our modern world, but rather that it consistently chooses to respond to pain with beauty and doubt with wonder.

Over the course of his remarkable solo career, Hay developed a reputation as a gifted raconteur with serious comedy chops, and his frequent appearances at LA’s Largo club helped garner him a legion of fans in the entertainment world. Among them was actor/director Zach Braff, who called Hay’s mix of heartfelt songwriting and hilarious storytelling “one of the most amazing things I had ever seen.” Braff would go on to feature Hay’s music prominently in the GRAMMY-winning soundtrack for Garden State and invite him to appear as himself on the hit series Scrubs, which helped introduce his music to a whole new generation of listeners.

On top of his rigorous schedule as a solo artist, Hay has also managed to tour the world several times over with Ringo Starr & His All–Star Band, release an audiobook of Aesop’s Fables, star in the award-winning documentary Waiting For My Real Life, and even provide the voice for Fergus Flamingo in Disney’s The Wild.

“The former Men At Work frontman has transformed into a thoughtful and sophisticated contemporary songwriter.” – Washington Post
