Lobero Theatre Dave Alvin and Jimmie Dale Gilmore are a roots music duo whose decades-long friendship and shared love of blues and folk culminated in a formal collaboration beginning in 2017. Blending GRAMMY® winner Alvin’s California-bred rock and rhythm-and-blues background with GRAMMY® nominee Gilmore’s Texas country sensibilities, the pair discovered a deep common ground in traditional American music.
Together, they have released the acclaimed albums TexiCali and Downey to Lubbock and toured with their band, The Guilty Ones, delivering energetic, story-rich performances. Their “Almost Acoustic Duo” shows strip things down to an intimate format, highlighting their chemistry through song-swapping, storytelling, and a mix of material from their joint work and solo catalogs.
