Jazz at the Lobero presents

Ovation Jazz Series - Spring 2023

Lobero Theatre

About the Event

The 1870’s planted a fertile ground for creative expression. Not only did José Lobero open the first legitimate theater/opera house in Santa Barbara, but the historic birth of jazz also materialized during that timeframe in New Orleans. Throughout the years, the Lobero Theatre has provided a stage for some of the world’s finest performers – a platform for creative musicians of diverse backgrounds.

Bringing together an eclectic group of artists, Jazz at Lobero remains a common thread that links jazz to our community. With our exciting 150th Anniversary upon us, we are thrilled to welcome back some of our longtime favorites.

Our Ovation Celebration also coincides with GRAMMY® Award-winner Charles Lloyd’s 85th Birthday. One of the world’s most renowned saxophone players, Lloyd has performed more on the Lobero stage than any other single artist, and even recorded his memorable album 8: Kindred Spirits (Live from the Lobero) here.
