This is a special benefit screening for the Maue Kay Foundation, a nonprofit charitable foundation formed in 2004 by John Kay and Jutta Maue Kay, which supports individuals and organizations engaged in the protection of Wildlife, The Environment and Human Rights.

Steppenwolf is one of the most legendary, enigmatic bands in rock history. But what few people know is that the band’s center of gravity was two German immigrant children (singer John Kay and bassist Nick St. Nicholas) who first met in Toronto before moving on to California together.

This new documentary takes us from war-torn Germany to the working-class streets of Toronto and Los Angeles where the band rises to international fame after their songs are featured in the cult classic film Easy Rider. The screening runs approximately 90 minutes and will be followed by a Q&A. There will be a post screening reception hosted by John Kay.
