Indy award-winning choreographer and artistic director, Christopher Pilafian brings Santa Barbara Dance Theater back to the Lobero Theatre for a dynamic program of new dances and audience favorites.
Charged with unforgettable imagery, high contrast and passionate performances by dancers at the top of their game, the company presents Pilafian’s recent premiere, Chanson and a revival of his 1998 work, Anemone with live music performed by composer/cellist Gianna Abondolo; Andrea Schermoly’s popular Moonscapes (2018) in a brand new edition; an exciting premiere by UCSB Assistant Professor Brandon Whited on the magnetic pull of wanderlust; and, fresh from their European tour, the UCSB Dance Company performs Swept In by New York City’s b-girl, club dance innovator and Bessie Award Winner, Ephrat Asherie.
